Meet Phil, our new lethality expert

The Cervus team continues to grow with the first recruit of 2021, Phil Craigie – Principal Analyst (Lethality)

Phil spent 18 years in the Royal Marines and specialised as a Platoon Weapons Instructor involving weapons training, tactics and range management.

After leaving Royal Marines four years ago he joining Falco-P, a management consultancy business where he excelled in training design and development, and employed his expertise in test, trial and evaluation of soldier system equipment and test and trial evaluation of soldier system equipment.

When asked how he first came across Cervus, Phil said:

I first met Chris (Baddeley) and Paddy (Little) in 2013, I’d been drafted to Infantry Trials Development Unit (ITDU) within the Army. I was working on the Platoon Combat Experiment and acting as the Range Conducting Officer, planning and conducting demanding and realistic live firing tactical training exercises. It was clear that they both had great attitudes and approaches to work, problems, and maximising potential in different scenarios. I learnt a lot about what was possible when “respectfully” pushing boundaries and have kept tabs on them and Cervus ever since. 

When Cervus started recruiting for the role I was drawn to the reputation the company has for being good to work with and disruptors in the industry. I’m excited to be a part of the team and looking forward to getting to work on my first project and taking a concept through development to a final product for the benefit of front-line operatives.

Phil’s first ‘remote’ day in the office

Chris Baddeley, Director of Operations added:

“Phil will immediately join the Smart Shooter Intelligent Enhancement Tool (SiET) project, which is being accelerated by DASA. His in-depth knowledge of lethality-based training will optimise the development of a system to improve the effectiveness of front-line operators.  His knowledge of another dismounted close combat user community will be valuable in helping Cervus adapt our offering to the Royal Marine community. 

Whilst we as a business have been able to successfully manage the challenging year of 2020 and have nearly doubled in size during this period, we are cautiously optimistic that with our business plan, amazing talent and forward-thinking clients, the business will continue to thrive and attract more talent to the team in due course.
